The $500,000 guaranteed Grand Prix Poker Tour (GPPT) Online leg took place this weekend and what a fantastic tournament it was.

In order to bring the GPPT experience to all of our valued customers, the GPPT Online leg was opened to everyone who has access to partypoker10001.com, and previsions were made to ensure that everyone, regardless of where there were in the world, could play. This was achieved by running a total of 16 flights during April 2-3, running every couple of hours, the first major partypoker tournament of its type.

By the time late registration ended on Day 1Q, a 6-Max Turbo, 3,659 players had bought in for $109, which although mightily impressive, meant $134,100 was added to the prize pool to ensure there was $500,000 to play for.

Some 890 players progressed to Sunday’s Day 2, and 400 of those navigated their way into the prize money, where a min-cash weighed in at $221 plus a $109 GPPT ticket. By the time the final table was set, the minimum anyone could take home was $5,391, but as anyone who plays tournaments knows, even bigger prizes awaited those getting down to the final handful of players.

In the early hours of Monday morning, Australia’s “AUSS1E_FISH” defeated “RoyalSpin” heads-up to get his hands on the giant $72,391 first place prize, and, of course, a $109 GPPT ticket to use at a future event. An amazing return on a $109 investment we’re sure you’ll agree.
